Get your Gut flora all the way right with this delicious slaw.
The bacteria in your gut is extremely important for helping sustain a healthy immune system, a healthy digestive system and improve your overall mood. When we have compromised gut floras, we are more prone to depression, diabetes, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity and many atopic diseases.
Keeping your stress down, minimizing antibiotic use, and eating a well-rounded nutritious diet all hold the key for optimizing your gut flora. Daily probiotics may be of help as well (100% pineapple juice is the way to go for a daily dose of probiotics!).
Now that Springtime is around the corner, I wanted to share with you all a very easy to prepare Coleslaw that is refreshing, delicious and great for your gut flora.
- Half of a medium-sized purple cabbage, shredded
- 2-3 stalks Green onion, chopped
- 1 medium carrot, shredded
- 1/2 fresh Jalapeno, chopped
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- Handful of cilantro, chopped
- 1 Tbsp Olive oil
- 1 Tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 Tsp Sesame Seeds
- Dash of Salt
Combine shredded cabbage with the Olive oil, Apple Cider vinegar and salt and massage into the cabbage. Add the rest of the ingredients and serve. This coleslaw may be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
